Audi’s astonishing 17-year success in the annual World Cars Awards continued when the Audi e-Tron GT Quattro took the 2022 World Performance Car of the Year title.
The results announced recently in New York saw the Hyundai Ioniq 5 take home the Car of the Year, Electric Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year accolades.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS claimed World Luxury Car, while the Toyota Yaris Cross won World Urban Car of the Year.
Since 2005, Audi has won the Performance category five times, been an overall winner once (Audi A6) and taken two Design awards and two Luxury awards.
More than 100 auto journalists from around the world thoroughly tested the cars that qualified and then voted on them for the 2022 honours.

"The fact the Audi e-Tron GT Quattro takes the title of ‘World Performance Car’ and thus this award goes to Audi for the fifth time makes us particularly proud, of course. As of 2026, Audi will be launching new models with only electric drive systems onto the global market. Starting in 2025, all production at Audi locations will be carbon neutral.
